  • Design, modeling, and characterization of distributed storage systems for data-intensive scientific computing

Philip Carns is a principal software development specialist in the Mathematics and Computer Science division at Argonne National Laboratory, a fellow of the Northwestern-Argonne Institute for Science and Engineering, and an adjunct associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Clemson University.  He received a doctorate from Clemson University in 2005 and spent three years designing commercial large-scale data processing systems before joining Argonne in 2008.  His current research interests include design, modeling, and characterization of distributed storage systems for data-intensive scientific computing.
