OPEN NOW! NAISE Summer Graduate Research Assistantship Grants
DEADLINE TO APPLY: April 17, 2026
NAISE invites applications for Summer Graduate Research Assistantship Grants supporting collaborative projects between Northwestern University and Argonne National Laboratory. These grants are designed to seed and foster innovative collaborations between Northwestern faculty and Argonne Scientists and strengthen connections between the two institutions, with priority given to proposals that establish new research directions.
Who: Northwestern graduate students should propose summer projects in collaboration with a Northwestern faculty and an Argonne National Laboratory Scientist. Northwestern faculty and Argonne National Laboratory Scientist are not required to be NAISE fellows but seeking projects with current NAISE Fellows is highly encouraged.
Why: Graduate students will have the opportunity to work closely with both a Northwestern professor and an Argonne scientist while contributing to seeding cutting-edge interdisciplinary research with potential to grow.
What: Proposed research is expected to be:
- Related to the thesis work of the student, or in agreement with thesis advisor.
- Establishing new exploratory research directions or expanding ones where funding is not currently available.
- Clearly defined in scope with realistic milestones for the timeline proposed
Applications are due by Friday, April 17th.
Final decisions will be announced in the first week of May 2026.
